Mr. Alexander-Cook is an accomplished commercial, regulatory and administrative law lawyer. Practising for more than a decade as a leading specialist in one of Canada’s pre-eminent corporate law firms, Mr. Alexander-Cook has honed his counselling, negotiation and litigation experience with a particular focus on the following:

  • Advising on all manner of business practices, especially general commercial contracting, marketing, advertising, promotional and other competitive conduct, regulated product compliance, cross-border issues and intellectual property licensing
  • Handling related enforcement and litigation matters, including complaints by and against clients before various authorities, such as the Competition Bureau, Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Advertising Standards Canada, the Pharmaceutical Advertising Advisory Board, provincial consumer protection authorities and the courts
  • Managing (or avoiding) product recalls of foods, drugs, medical devices, chemicals, electrical products and children’s products
  • Counselling on all aspects of competition, foreign investment and other regulatory review of mergers in many industries, including agricultural products, consumer packaged goods, energy, financial services, metals and mining, pharmaceuticals and retailing
  • Litigating trade matters before the Canada Border Services Agency, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and the Federal Court of Appeal, representing both foreign and domestic parties

Mr. Alexander-Cook speaks and writes frequently and is an active member in the American Bar Association Business Law Section and Section of Antitrust Law. Mr. Alexander-Cook is the current Chair, Marketing Practices of the Canadian Bar Association National Competition Section.
